Dioptra's fondation is katiML: a data management solution for machine learning.

KatiML is backed by a scalable metadata storage engine that integrates with customer's Object Storages to store the actual data (images, videos, documents etc.). KatiML only stores metadata (predictions, ground truths, tags etc.) and urls pointing to the data in the Object Store.

The katiML web app leverages signed urls to render the data in the customer's web browser but the data never leaves the customer's VPC.

Similarly, the Dioptra SDK interacts with katiML and the customer's Object Store to produce training-ready datasets from within the customer's VPC.
